By Dominic Chase |

The Indiana Pacers have clinched their first NBA Finals appearance since 2000, defeating the New York Knicks 125–108 in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals on May 31, 2025, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Pacers will face the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the Finals, scheduled for June 5.
Pascal Siakam led the Pacers with a game-high 31 points, earning the Eastern Conference Finals MVP award. Siakam’s performance was pivotal in Indiana’s series-clinching victory, showcasing his leadership and postseason experience. “Just unbelievable,” Siakam remarked, reflecting on the team’s achievement.
Tyrese Haliburton contributed significantly with 21 points and 13 assists, orchestrating the Pacers’ offense effectively. Indiana’s aggressive defense forced 18 turnovers from the Knicks, converting them into 34 points. The Pacers also dominated in transition, outscoring New York 41-10 in fast-break points.
The Knicks, despite a strong start, struggled with turnovers and defensive lapses. OG Anunoby led New York with 24 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns added a 22-point, 14-rebound double-double. Jalen Brunson contributed 19 points and seven assists, but the team’s efforts fell short against Indiana’s relentless play.
This Finals appearance marks a significant milestone for the Pacers, who have undergone a strategic rebuild in recent years. The acquisition of Siakam and the development of Haliburton have been central to Indiana’s resurgence. Head coach Rick Carlisle, who was an assistant during the Pacers’ 2000 Finals run, now leads the team as they vie for their first NBA championship.
The upcoming Finals against the Thunder present a compelling matchup, with both teams seeking their inaugural NBA title. Game 1 is set for June 5, promising an exciting series between two dynamic squads.
