Ethan Hawke Returns as The Grabber in Chilling ‘The Black Phone 2’ Trailer

Universal Pictures has unveiled the first official trailer for The Black Phone 2, set to hit theaters on October 17, 2025. The sequel to the 2021 horror hit brings back Ethan Hawke in his haunting role as The Grabber, the masked serial killer who terrorized siblings Finn and Gwen in the original film.

Directed by Scott Derrickson, who co-wrote the screenplay with C. Robert Cargill, The Black Phone 2 continues the story four years after the events of the first film. Finn (Mason Thames), now 17, struggles with life after his captivity, while his younger sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw) begins receiving disturbing visions and dream calls from the black phone. These visions involve three boys being stalked at a winter camp known as Alpine Lake, leading the siblings to uncover a deeper connection between The Grabber and their familys history.

The trailer showcases The Grabbers return from beyond the grave, seeking vengeance on Finn by menacing Gwen. In one chilling scene, Gwen is attacked in her dreams, with the physical effects manifesting in the real world. The Grabbers threat looms large as he targets children connected to the religious camp Gwen now attends, intensifying the horror.

Joining the returning cast are Demián Bichir, Arianna Rivas, Miguel Mora, Maev Beaty, and Graham Abbey. Jeremy Davies reprises his role as the siblings abusive father, Terrence Blake. The film is produced by Blumhouse Productions, with Joe Hill serving as an executive producer.

Fans of the original film can expect a deeper exploration into the supernatural elements introduced in the first movie, as the line between the living and the dead becomes increasingly blurred. With its eerie atmosphere and psychological tension, The Black Phone 2 aims to deliver another thrilling chapter in this horror saga.
