Albany, NY – The EMS Leadership Academy is proud to announce a strategic partnership with the National EMS Management Association (NEMSMA). This collaboration marks a significant step forward in advancing leadership excellence within Emergency Medical Services (EMS), bringing together two organizations dedicated to empowering EMS leaders.
This partnership is designed to expand access to leadership education, foster professional development, and support EMS leaders in achieving the highest standards of excellence. NEMSMA President, Pat Songer, has praised the partnership, stating, “This collaboration aligns with our mission of advancing leadership in EMS and provides an excellent platform for us to showcase our expertise, promote NEMSMA’s offerings, and engage with a broader audience.”
Over the past two years, the EMS Leadership Academy has worked closely with NEMSMA to ensure that all of its leadership education programs, including the acclaimed EMS Leadership Summit (www.EMSLeadershipSummit.com), are approved by NEMSMA’s American College of Paramedic Executives (ACPE). The EMS Leadership Academy has created over 70 hours of NEMSMA-approved leadership content, supporting EMS leaders in their pursuit of professional growth and certification.
NEMSMA-Approved Leadership Programs
The following EMS Leadership Academy programs are officially approved by NEMSMA and contribute to professional development within the EMS community:
- EMS Leadership Academy’s Communication Mini-Course (3.5 hours)
- Keeping The Best: An EMS Coaching Program (7.5 hours)
- DEI for the Care Community (11 hours)
- Foundations for Effective Leadership (Live Training) (24 hours)
- EMS Leadership Summit (Annual Virtual Event) (24 hours)
Since its inception in 2019, the EMS Leadership Summit has reached over 17,000 participants across 44 countries. This virtual conference provides EMS professionals access to innovative speakers and leadership training, while also offering Continuing Leadership Education (CLE) credits applicable toward voluntary professional certifications through NEMSMA and the ACPE.

Certification Opportunities for EMS Leaders
As part of the collaboration, EMS leaders can pursue Paramedic Officer Certification through NEMSMA’s ACPE, with three levels of voluntary certification:
- Supervising Paramedic Officer (SPO)
- Managing Paramedic Officer (MPO)
- Executive Paramedic Officer (FACPE) (Fellow of the College of Paramedic Executives)
These certifications validate the knowledge, skills, and attributes essential for effective leadership and provide a pathway for career advancement. The rigorous certification process, developed by a broad cross-section of the EMS community, recognizes achievement and encourages ongoing professional development.
