Botswana Set to Premiere First African Adaptation of “Liar”
The film industry in Botswana is making significant strides with the announcement of its first-ever African adaptation of the popular scripted series “Liar.” Created in partnership between Botswana Ignite and All3Media International, this exciting project is expected to complete production by early April 2025.

About the Series
The adaptation will consist of six episodes and features notable actors such as Motsoaledi Setumo, known for her roles in “The Wife” and “Soweto Love Story,” as well as Maxwell Dichi, recognized from “Generations” and “Muvhango.” Filming took place in Gaborone and wrapped in November 2024, maintaining the original themes of consent and contemporary gender dynamics that propelled “Liar” to international fame.

Originally conceived by Two Brothers Pictures for ITV in the UK, “Liar” boasts 15 international adaptations, spanning countries such as India, Italy, France, and Germany. The upcoming Botswana version is set to premiere on a Pan-African streaming platform before airing on Botswana Television (BTV).
