Tribeca Festival Lisboa Expands for Its Second Year
The vibrant city of Lisbon will once again host the Tribeca Festival Lisboa, slated to take place from October 30 to November 1, 2025. Following a successful inaugural edition, this year’s festival promises to be even grander, featuring a rich array of U.S. independent films, Portuguese cinema, series, music showcases, and engaging live discussions.
Commitment to Artistic Communities
“Last year, the city of Lisbon welcomed Tribeca with open arms, and we found a home away from home— a creative haven buzzing with inspiration and innovation. This year, we’re thrilled to return for the second annual Tribeca Festival Lisboa,” stated Jane Rosenthal, co-founder and CEO of Tribeca Enterprises. She emphasized the importance of supporting creative communities as a crucial aspect of cultural flourishing.
Festival Venue and Highlights
This year’s festival will be held at the Unicorn Factory Lisboa, strategically located in the innovative Beato district, known for its fostering of creativity and collaboration. The inaugural event last year made a significant impact, featuring the Portuguese premiere of Sean Baker’s acclaimed film, “Anora,” which captured five Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Noteworthy discussions included appearances by industry stalwarts like Whoopi Goldberg, Patty Jenkins, and Tribeca co-founders Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal.
Support from Local Leaders
Expressing enthusiasm for the returning festival, Francisco Pedro Balsemão, CEO of Impresa, the media group collaborating with Tribeca, commented on the remarkable experience the inaugural event provided for Portuguese audiences. “Year one of Tribeca Festival Lisboa was an amazing and unique experience for Portuguese audiences. We are thrilled to host this event once again, where we will increase talent, quality content, and unforgettable talks,” he noted.
Carlos Moedas, the Mayor of Lisbon, reinforced the city’s dedication to cultural innovation, stating, “The Tribeca Festival is back in Lisbon, reinforcing our commitment to culture and artistic innovation. Hosting this prestigious festival at the Unicorn Factory not only highlights the city’s creative energy but also solidifies Lisbon as a major global cultural hub.”
A Global Cultural Destination
The expansion of the Tribeca brand into global cities like Lisbon, Los Angeles, and Miami signifies an exciting chapter for the festival. The 2025 edition of the Tribeca Festival Lisboa aims to further establish its position as an essential international gathering for filmmakers and audiences alike.
