Barco Unveils HDR by Barco for Upcoming 2025 Films

Major Releases Set to Feature HDR Technology

At CinemaCon, Barco shared exciting news about the integration of High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology for multiple 2025 films. Notable titles include Universal’s animated feature How to Train Your Dragon, slated for release on June 13. The film has garnered positive feedback following its recent premiere at the event.

Additionally, Universal is set to enhance the viewing experience for Jurassic World Rebirth, which hits theaters on July 2. This latest installment in the franchise features a star-studded cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali.

Sony Films Join the HDR Line-Up

Barco announced that Sony’s upcoming films Karate Kid: Legends and 28 Years Later will also benefit from HDR by Barco technology. The former, which reunites original cast member Ralph Macchio alongside Ben Wang and Jackie Chan, is set for release on May 30. Meanwhile, Danny Boyle’s follow-up to the iconic zombie film is scheduled for a June 20 premiere.

Earlier HDR Releases and Upcoming Titles

This year has already seen the release of HDR titles such as Paramount’s Novocaine and Amazon MGM Studios’ A Working Man. Additional films set to showcase HDR technology include the highly anticipated A Minecraft Movie on April 4 and Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler and featuring Michael B. Jordan, on April 18.

Furthermore, other noteworthy mentions for HDR releases this month include Warfare, directed by Iraq War veteran Ray Mendoza, and Civil War from acclaimed filmmaker Alex Garland, both premiering on April 11. The sequel to the thriller The Accountant, starring Ben Affleck, will premiere on April 25.

Innovations Unveiled at CinemaCon

In addition to the movie announcements, Barco introduced its latest technology, the mFusion ICMP-XS integrated audio and media server, and a new Smart Amplifier. These innovations are designed to be compatible with Barco’s Series 4 laser projectors, which were showcased at the convention, highlighting their commitment to advancing cinema technology.
