Jaonaay and Jaokhun Join Sony Music Thailand to Elevate T-Pop
Sony Music Thailand has made a significant move by signing the popular T-Pop duo Jaonaay and Jaokhun. This decision highlights the label’s commitment to promoting Thai artists on a global scale.
Rising T-Pop Sensations
Jaonaay and Jaokhun, the sons of legendary Thai pop icon J. Jetrin Wattanasin, are set to bring their bilingual talents and Gen Z energy to the forefront of Sony’s artist roster. As the label continues to expand into Southeast Asia’s dynamic music scene, the brothers represent a fresh wave of talent in T-Pop.
Notable Achievements
Jaonaay gained recognition at the age of 16 with his hit single “Kon La Chun,” which won Song of the Year at the 2018 Nine Entertainment Awards. He has also demonstrated his versatility by appearing in “Bad Genius: The Series” and contributing to its soundtrack with the song “Kong Rak Mai Dai.” Meanwhile, Jaokhun has carved out a distinct niche in the music industry, successfully merging pop and hip-hop styles. His breakout track “Talay” has positioned him as a versatile performer with interests in dance and fashion alongside his music.
Creative Aspirations with Sony Music
The brothers expressed their enthusiasm about their new partnership, stating, “Working with Sony Music Thailand opens a whole new world for us creatively. We are ready to explore new sounds, push ourselves, and try things we have never done before. With their global reach and strong legacy in shaping music worldwide, Sony Music Thailand’s support will push us to think bigger and bolder.”
Future Releases and Strategic Expansion
Having thrived in Thailand’s entertainment atmosphere and proficient in both Thai and English, Jaonaay and Jaokhun are anticipated to release new music in the latter half of 2025.
This signing comes during a period of strategic growth for Sony Music Entertainment in Southeast Asia, now under the guidance of newly appointed Managing Director Kevin Foo. Foo, who recently transitioned from his role at RCA Records Greater China, will spearhead operations across the Thai, Philippine, and Indonesian markets from his base in Singapore.
Support from Sony Music Leadership
Kevin Foo remarked on the signing, saying, “We have watched Jaonaay and Jaokhun grow as artists over the years, and we are excited to support their creative ambitions as they take the next step.” He acknowledged the fresh dynamic that the siblings bring to T-Pop, emphasizing the label’s role in creating resonant musical experiences across Asia.
Additionally, Shridhar Subramaniam, President for Asia and the Middle East at Sony Music Entertainment, noted, “Jaonaay and Jaokhun are redefining what it means to be an artist in today’s world with their strong sense of self and a passion for creative expression. Each has crafted a unique sound and a creative vision that spans beyond just music.”
