Star-Studded Cast Expands for Netflix’s ‘Animals’
The highly anticipated thriller “Animals,” directed by Ben Affleck for Netflix, is set to feature an impressive cast with the recent addition of Ray Fisher, Mark Kassen, and Christopher Woodley. They will join established stars including Gillian Anderson, Kerry Washington, Steven Yeun, Luis Gerardo Méndez, and Adriana Paz.

Mark Kassen, known for his work as a filmmaker, playwright, and actor, is not only a new cast member but also a seasoned industry insider. He is the founder of Like Minded Entertainment and co-founder of A Starting Point, a platform aimed at civic engagement.
His directing credits include notable films such as “Puncture” featuring Chris Evans, and he has experience producing content for various television networks including Fox, MTV, and Sundance Channel. Kassen has also starred in the Tony Award-winning Broadway play “The Last Night of Ballyhoo” and wrote the acclaimed off-Broadway production “Little Willy.” Most recently, he directed and acted in “PH-1,” a political thriller.
Production Details
Filming for “Animals” is currently underway in Los Angeles, with a script penned by Connor McIntyre and Billy Ray. The city plays a vital role in the narrative of the film, especially given the recent wildfires that impacted the area. The production team is dedicated to sustaining the local film industry, creating jobs, and promoting Los Angeles as a filmmaking center.

The film is being produced by prominent figures in the industry, including Affleck, Matt Damon, Dani Bernfeld, and Lucy Damon of Artists Equity; a new studio established by Affleck, Damon, and Gerry Cardinale from RedBird Capital Partners. Collaborating on this project, Brad Weston and Collin Creighton from Makeready are partnered with Fifth Season.
Michael Joe and Kevin Halloran from Artists Equity will serve as executive producers, working alongside Fifth Season to oversee the film’s development.
