Christian Pulisic, a standout player for the United States national soccer team, is reportedly in discussions with AC Milan regarding a contract extension, as confirmed by a source close to the situation.
Impressive Performance at Milan
Since joining AC Milan in July 2023, Pulisic has established himself as a vital part of the squad. His tenure at Milan follows significant stints at Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea, where he played from 2016 to 2023.
This season, Pulisic has showcased his scoring ability, matching his career-best tally with his 15th goal during a 2-1 victory over Como. He joins an elite group, being the first Milan player to score 15 or more goals in his initial two seasons since Zlatan Ibrahimovic achieved the feat a decade ago.
Current Club Challenges
Despite Pulisic’s impressive contributions, AC Milan has struggled to meet expectations this season. Following the departure of former head coach Stefano Pioli in the summer, the club appointed Paulo Fonseca, who was subsequently dismissed due to ongoing inconsistent performances. As of December 30, Sergio Conceição has taken over the managerial role, yet the team continues to face challenges on the pitch.
Recent Squad Developments
In an effort to strengthen their attacking options, AC Milan made notable acquisitions during the recent January transfer window. They added Chelsea loanee João Félix to support Pulisic and fellow forward Rafael Leão. Additionally, they signed Mexican striker Santiago Giménez from Feyenoord, further enhancing their attacking lineup.
Milan’s Current Standing
As the season progresses, AC Milan finds itself in eighth place in Serie A, trailing their rivals, Inter Milan, by 14 points as they strive to improve their position in the league standings.
