Texans Make History with Jayden Higgins’ Fully Guaranteed Contract
Historic Contract Agreement
The Houston Texans have reached a groundbreaking agreement with rookie wide receiver Jayden Higgins on a fully guaranteed four-year contract worth $11,700,824. This makes Higgins the first second-round draft pick in NFL history to secure a fully guaranteed contract.
The Significance of the Deal
Typically, fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL are reserved for first-round picks. However, general manager Nick Caserio made an exception for Higgins, represented by agent Chris Cabott of EquitySports. This move illustrates the Texans’ strong belief in Higgins’ potential impact on the team.
Player Background and Expectations
Selected with the 34th overall pick from Iowa State, Higgins had an impressive collegiate career, recording 1,183 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in the 2024 season. His performance earned him a reputation as a formidable target.
“Jayden [is] just a big target,” said Texans’ head coach DeMeco Ryans. “I know a lot of people said he’s very similar to [Texans wideout] Nico [Collins] and what he’s able to do, but you get a receiver of his stature and with his catch radius, it just opens up a lot of things for us offensively that I know all of our guys are excited about.”
