Shooting Incident at Troy Hospital Leaves Employee Injured
A shooting occurred on Thursday morning in the parking garage of Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital in Troy, Michigan. Authorities described the incident as a “targeted attack” involving a hospital employee.
Details of the Shooting
According to Lt. Ben Hancock from the Troy Police Department, the suspect fired at least five shots at the victim, a 25-year-old man from Troy. The victim sustained two gunshot wounds to the arm, and further reports indicated that his vehicle was also hit during the attack.
Response to the Incident
Emergency services responded promptly around 7 a.m. local time, and the injured employee was transported to the hospital, where he is currently in stable condition. Following the incident, law enforcement was able to apprehend the suspect a couple of hours later after they fled the scene. As of now, their identity has not been disclosed.
Hospital Lockdown and Patient Advisory
In response to the shooting, Corewell Health initiated a lockdown of the hospital as a precautionary measure. The facility is now working towards resuming its normal operations. The hospital released a statement advising patients who had scheduled appointments to refrain from coming in at this time, and to instead contact their respective medical departments for further guidance.
