Greg Berlanti Expands Creative Ventures with New Projects
Prolific Producer’s New Endeavors
Greg Berlanti, renowned for his extensive work in television, is embarking on multiple new projects across various streaming platforms. This strategic expansion marks an exciting chapter in his career as he continues to solidify his status as a leading figure in the industry.
Return to Writing with “Stillwater”
For his upcoming project, Berlanti has joined forces with Carly Wray, known for her work on acclaimed shows like The Leftovers and Watchmen. Together, they will serve as writers and executive producers for the horror thriller titled Stillwater, inspired by Chip Zdarsky and Ramon K. Perez’s comic book.
The plot revolves around Daniel West, an ex-con who receives a mysterious letter that hints at answers to his past and a substantial inheritance. The logline teases a community in Stillwater where the passage of time seems to stand still, presenting chilling implications: “nothing ever ages, no one ever dies, and nobody ever gets out.”
Behind the Scenes of “Stillwater”
This project will have a strong production team, including veterans like Robert Kirkman and David Alpert from Skybound Entertainment. Berlanti Productions will also contribute through executive producers Sarah Schechter and Leigh London Redman, alongside Robbie Rogers and Jonathan Gabay. Warner Bros. Television serves as the backdrop for this collaboration.
Hulu’s Interest in “Foster Dade”
In addition to Stillwater, Berlanti is co-writing a new spec script titled Foster Dade. The project, acquired by Hulu, looks promising as the network considers it for a pilot order. Co-written with Bathsheba Doran, this narrative draws from Nash Jenkins’ 2023 novel, Foster Dade Explores the Cosmos.
The story unfolds through the eyes of a narrator who moves into a dorm room that belonged to Foster, triggering an investigation into a scandal that once made waves at the prestigious Kennedy boarding school.
