• California has designated certain DMVs to open earlier for REAL ID appointments four days a week.

Aixa Diaz, a spokesperson for AAA, suggests that travelers keep refreshing DMV appointment websites for cancellations that may open up slots unexpectedly. However, it’s essential to note that TSA will not accept temporary paper IDs as valid identification at security checkpoints.
