Parallelle’s Traveller Series: The Ultimate Toiletry Bag for Women

If a Transformers toy were designed for adult women, it would resemble the innovative toiletry bags in Parallelle’s Traveller series. Externally chic and ribbed, akin to Optimus Prime’s boots, these bags might initially appear to be standard makeup accessories. However, upon unzipping, they reveal a highly organized interior, complete with various pockets, adjustable dividers, and loops that facilitate effortless packing and access to toiletries.

Innovative Design for Modern Travelers

The concept of the Traveller is the brainchild of Annie Fan, a designer with extensive experience in private-label bag production. Having faced challenges while attending SoulCycle classes—like forgetting essential cosmetics or misplacing items in her bag—Fan envisioned a solution. In 2022, she embarked on a mission to create the ideal travel cosmetics bag, prioritizing structure and accessibility.

“When I started designing the Traveller, structure was key,” Fan explains. “It needed to function like a portable vanity—keeping everything visible, secure, and exactly where you need it, without the need to unpack.”

The Development Journey

Fan’s design process involved an iterative approach, resulting in 60 prototypes to refine every detail of the bag. Each iteration focused on how to maintain organization and accessibility, culminating in a product that meets diverse user needs.

Multiple Sizes for Varied Needs

The Traveller series now offers four distinct sizes, each crafted from sturdy, vegan leather and water-resistant cotton:

• Small: Features 9 pockets, 2 divided compartments, 2 mesh pouches, and 5 loops for brushes and small items.
• Medium: Contains 16 pockets, 3 divided compartments, and 4 mesh pouches.
• Large: Equipped with 20 pockets, 3 divided compartments, and an additional 6 new pouches.
• Brush Version: Standing at 9.6 inches tall with 13 wall pockets for brushes and toiletries, a zippered pouch, and a spacious floor for larger products.

Real-World Testing

In a recent five-day family trip to both hotels and an Airbnb in Louisiana, I tested the Medium and Brush versions of the Traveller. They proved to be exceptionally effective for organizing a multitude of skincare and makeup products. Upon reaching my destination, I placed a Traveller on the bathroom counter, unzipped it, and folded the sides down. Instantly, all my items were visible and easily accessible, showing not a hint of wear from the journey.
