Mostly What God Does Is Love You
This 32-page picture book, published by Zonderkidz, invites young readers to appreciate the beauty of nature and recognize their inherent worth in God’s eyes. Coupled with vivid illustrations by Morgan Huff, Guthrie’s narrative aims to convey a message of love and reassurance.
Guthrie explained her motivation for writing the book was to create an uplifting narrative that instills a sense of being cherished in children. She hopes that this sense of love will inspire young readers to extend kindness and compassion to others.
Insights from Guthrie
In a candid conversation with her daughter, Vale, Guthrie shared her personal journey with prayer, recalling how she began by asking for tangible things like good grades before transitioning to discussing her fears. “Even when [I had] times where I felt alone,” she reflected, “I could always call God.” This emotional connection underscores the core message she wishes to impart to her children.
This book builds on her previous work, Mostly What God Does, a 2024 release aimed at adult readers. This companion collection of essays explores themes of love, hope, and purpose, crafted from both personal triumphs and daily experiences. According to publishers, the book is designed to guide readers toward a faith that is “authentic, hopeful, and life-changing.”
