Billie Eilish and Finneas Transition to Sandbox Entertainment
Management Change After Years of Success
In a noteworthy development within the music industry, Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas have decided to part ways with their longtime management team, Best Friends Music Management. This team, comprised of Danny Rukasin and Brandon Goodman, has guided the siblings for a decade, contributing to their phenomenal rise in fame and success.
New Representation and Future Directions
The duo has officially signed with Jason Owen’s Sandbox Entertainment, an agency known for representing prominent artists such as Kacey Musgraves and Kelsea Ballerini. Despite the change being surprising, especially considering the remarkable achievements attained under their previous management, the transition had been hinted at through rumors circulating last year.
Acclaimed Careers and Industry Achievements
Billie Eilish has been a standout figure in the music scene, boasting nine Grammy Awards and 32 nominations, alongside two Academy Awards for Best Song. Finneas, her collaborator, shares in much of this success, having clinched the Grammy for Producer of the Year in 2020. Their journey began with the viral hit “Ocean Eyes,” which propelled them into the limelight when Eilish was just 13 years old.
Their debut EP, “Don’t Smile at Me,” launched in 2017, preceded their critical and commercial success with the album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?” which garnered them several Grammy wins in major categories.
Owen’s Background and Management Philosophy
Jason Owen has built a reputation as a leading figure in artist management, particularly within the country music genre. Before establishing Sandbox Entertainment, Owen honed his skills at Universal Music and worked with legendary artists like Johnny Cash. Reflecting on his early experiences in the industry, he expressed a desire to improve management practices, stating, “I can do better than that with my eyes closed.”
Looking Ahead
With the inclusion of Eilish and Finneas in its roster, Sandbox Entertainment is expanding its influence beyond the country music sphere. The agency is poised for growth, especially with the recent appointment of Nashville veteran Jake Basden as president, further strengthening its capabilities.
