In her post, Jacobson shared, “Our dear friend JAY NORTH has been fighting cancer for a number of years and this morning at noon EST, Jay passed peacefully at home. He had a heart as big as a mountain, loved his friends deeply… His suffering is over. At last he is at peace.”

“Dennis the Menace,” inspired by Hank Ketcham’s comic strip, was notable for its engaging depiction of childhood mischief. Over four seasons, the series aired 146 episodes, showcasing North as the youthful troublemaker whose antics often frustrated his neighbor, Mr. George Wilson, portrayed by Joseph Kearns. The show boasted an impressive cast, including Herbert Anderson, Gloria Henry, Billy Booth, Sylvia Field, and Gale Gordon.

Post-Series Career

After the series concluded in 1963, North transitioned to various television roles, making appearances in shows such as “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” “The Lucy Show,” and “My Three Sons.” He also contributed voice work to animated series like “Arabian Knights” and “The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show,” with his final lead role in the 1974 film “The Teacher.”
