Argentina Takes Action Against Violent Fans Ahead of Club World Cup
In a proactive move to ensure safety at the upcoming Club World Cup, Argentine Security Minister Patricia Bullrich presented a list of 15,000 individuals deemed violent fans to the United States Embassy in Buenos Aires. This list aims to prevent any known offenders from attending matches during the tournament.
Overview of the Club World Cup
The Club World Cup is set to take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13, featuring prominent Argentine clubs such as Boca Juniors and River Plate alongside 30 other teams from around the globe. This expanded event emphasizes the inclusion of international football talent and fan engagement.
Commitment to Safety
Minister Bullrich highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating, “The list includes more than 15,000 people who will be banned from stadiums. For us, this is extremely important because no violent person who has committed any crime in Argentine stadiums will be able to attend this sporting event.”
Implementation of the “Tribuna Segura” Program
The list was compiled through the “Tribuna Segura” program, a dedicated initiative focusing on identifying individuals prohibited from entering Argentine stadiums. Since its inception, the program has monitored over 4 million attendees across 1,328 matches, identifying 1,166 individuals with active arrest warrants and issuing over 40 administrative bans on stadium entry.
